The former Big East rivals will reportedly play on Dec. 5 in Madison Square Garden.

Two longtime Big East rivals are set to square off once again. According to multiple reports, Syracuse will play Connecticut at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 5. The two teams last played in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament on Nov. 26, when SU beat then-No. 18 Connecticut, 79-76.

The Hartford Courant reports the two schools have been talking about a regular-season contest since SU departed for the Atlantic Coast Conference after the 2012-13 season, and the matchup could become an annual event at The Garden or a home-and-home series. The paper also reports the Huskies and Orange are close to an agreement to play again in the Jimmy V Classic in December 2017.

Connecticut’s most recent campaign ended in the second round of the NCAA tournament with a loss to Kansas, rounding out a 25-11 campaign. Meanwhile, Syracuse landed in its second Final Four in the last four seasons before falling to North Carolina.
