Rock a little black dress in a casual setting

Hannah Malach | Contributing Writer

Freshman Celia Volkwein bases her personal style off of the Hadid sisters and other Hollywood "it-girls."

Who ever said little black dresses had to be formal?

Freshman Celia Volkwein proves that the Coco Chanel staple can be classy and casual at the same time. She rocked her look with a ribbed T-shirt dress from Brandy Melville, along with an oversized shearling-lined denim jacket from American Apparel. While wearing a larger jacket has the tendency to make one look bulky, Volkwein pulls it off by wearing a dress that perfectly shows off her figure.

Volkein, who is undeclared in the College of Arts and Sciences, credits the outfit idea to wanting to combine style with comfort, which T-shirt fabric and soft, cozy shearling do quite well.

She attributes most of her style inspiration to fashion’s current It-girls, models Gigi and Bella Hadid, whose inspiration can be seen in her cool accessories that really made the look pop: black boots with studs on the heels — courtesy of NastyGal — a pair of shiny blue aviators and layered necklaces and bracelets. She finished off the look with pink lipstick, which is perfect for spring — snow or shine.
